rock3 300x224 Automatic Blog Rehasher...I was surfing Digg for the search term “automatic blog” when I saw a post that had been “dugg” 28 times.

Thinking how strange this was, since 2-3 diggs was the norm, I had check out this post. What could the author possibly have written on “automatic blogging” that would generate that kind of response.

The article was titled, Automatic Blog Rehasher”.

When I read it,  I could see why and more importantly “how” it got so many diggs.  (You’ll see why when you read it).

The author posed the question, does good content matter anymore in the blogosphere?

The article is about rehashed content and its common use and increasing acceptance in the blogosphere. I agree that rehashed, garbage content offers little value to the reader and for the most part it is generally unintelligible.

Years ago (much less today), online marketers, mostly spammers, used software to scrape content from other sites to create hundred or even thousands of sites around specific keywords. While it still occurs, it is no where as common as it used to be.

This rift is between blogging purists and marketers who use blogs.  I think the real issue is purpose, which I addressed in my post titled, Automatic Blogs, Why So Controversial?

I draw a distinction between rehashed content and content that is automatically generated from article directories or other credible sources and that credits the source with appropriate attribution, i.e., includes a link back to article source and author’s bio box.

I suggest that you read Automatic Blog Rehasher for yourself at Hunter Nutthall.com and draw your own conclusion.

When you’re done, leave a comment and let me know why you think the article got so many diggs…

I’ll be blogging about that in a day or so.
